Services Now Available in Oxford, Mississippi
I grew up in Oxford, Mississippi and recently moved back after living in South Carolina. I founded the Autism Institute of South Carolina in 2007. With the return to my hometown, I have now established my business in Oxford. I have over 30 years of experience helping others address issues related to autism through the design and application of supports that promote success in everyday life. Although I currently focus on working with very young children, I have been involved with programs for all age groups, serving in various professional roles at universities, schools, homes, state agencies, work sites, and residential settings.
I have provided consultation and workshops throughout the United States on topics regarding ABA-based programming embedded in naturally occurring routines within inclusive settings. I have co-authored publications and developed training manuals for professionals and paraprofessionals relating to the use of community-based non-aversive behavioral and educational interventions for individuals experiencing difficulties in learning, communication, and social interactions. I feel honored to have received multiple awards for contributions to the autism community by the South Carolina Autism Society and the Autism Society of America.
I attended the University of Mississippi where I received a BAE in Elementary Education and a MEd in Special Education. I earned my doctorate in Special Education Administration from the University of South Carolina, with a dissertation focus on applied behavior analysis and autism. Through post-doctoral study with Pennsylvania State University, I received a Professional Development Certificate in Autism and a Certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis for Special Education. Additionally, I have completed specialized training in Pivotal Response Treatment, the Early Start Denver Model, and the Orton-Gillingham approach to reading.
Currently, I am a member of the Behavior Analysis Association of Mississippi, the South Carolina Association of Behavior Analysis, and the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
I am committed to offering quality services based on the principles and methodology of applied behavior analysis that promote dignity, self-reliance, and successful outcomes for children with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder or other developmental concerns, as well as, support for the family members and professionals involved in their lives. My approach is to work hand-in-hand with family members to help the children they love.
